Count Your Blessings

I am in the midst of reading the book, Growing Grateful Kids, by Susie Larson.  Today, as I was reading, I was drawn in (and pretty convicted) by a powerful portion of the book.  I wanted to share it with you...

Susie titles this section "Count Your Blessings"

1. If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head, and a place to sleep...you are richer than 70 percent of this world.

2.  If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace...you are among the top 8 percent of the world's wealthy.

3. If you woke up this morning with more health than illness...you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

4.  If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation...you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

5.  If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death...you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

6. If your parents are still alive and still married...you are very rare.

7. If you hold your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful...you are blessed because, although the majority can, most do not.

"You're blessed when you're content with just who you are--no more, no less.  That's the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can't be bought.  You're blessed when you've worked up a good appetite for God.  He's food and drink in the best meal you'll ever eat."
(Matthew 5:5-6 THE MESSAGE)
